What is "A Haunting in San Diego"?

We've been getting a lot of questions about our collaborative scary story performance componant in association with So Say We All featured at this year's Morp 2013: A Dead Man's Party, and we're glad!  That means you're just as excited as we are!

The show will take 6 short pre-written scary stories from some local fabulous writers, and layer in a performance element with the help of CCdd Directors and local actors.  It's sure to scare your pants off!  We're in rehearsal developing the show and it has been a blast thus-far.  Here are the stories/writers/directors/and casts that you can look forward to seeing on our spooky stage:

Down In The Canyon by Jake Arky

Directed by Soroya Rowley

Love and fear. Booze and breakdowns. Coyotes and canyons.

Starring: Andrew Steele & Soroya Rowley

Blood on the Sunday School Steps by Holland Noel

Directed by Sam Ginn

Directed by Katherine Harroff

A lifelong aversion to cars and catastrophe comes to a head on Friars Road. There are no heroes. Only demons and the self.

My Poltergeist by Amy Wallen

What's Going Down at Morp 2013?

Hey all!

We're still cooling our jets after a very eventful summer with CCdd.  Fringe Festivals, remounts, 501(c)3's, and more made this one heck of an ending to our 2012/2013 season.  We're gearing up for what's next- as always- and that means our annual Party/Fundraiser Morp is right around the corner!

We'll release a more formal press announcement about the event next week- but in the meantime we want to give you a sneak-peak at all the goods you can expect if you decide to join in on our spooky Halloween fun.  So here are a couple of the highlights of what we have up our sleeves so far for Morp 2013: A Dead Man's Party:

1. New digs!

This year's event will be taking place at the beautiful and spacious Centro Cultural de la Raza in Balboa Park.  You know the two round buildings on Park Blvd?  This is the one on the right, and it's a beauty.

We're thrilled to be able to utilize this awesome center for our killer party.

2. New Theme!

This year's Morp theme is inspired by Centro's 'Dia de los Muertos' art exhibit, and we hope you're just as excited for it as we are.  This year will be a "Dead Man's Party"!  We hope to see our guests in various sugar skulls- but anything goes this year for the costume contest!  If you'd like to be crowned in this year's Royal Morp Court, come in your most creative Halloween costume.  We're looking for creativity, spirit, hilarity, and special FX!  Of course if you take our theme into consideration you may get bonus points- but we mean it- wear WHATEVER you want to Morp this year!  All ideas are welcome!

3. New performance piece included!

We are very excited to be adding a theatrical performance componant to "Morp" this year, with our scary-story performance installation in collaboration with So Say We All titled "A Haunting in San Diego"!

Six True tales of terror written by the talented SSWA group will team up with CCdd directors to develop a theatrical presentation that will haunt your dreams for weeks to come.

4. The return of Food Trucks!

We are so stoked that Centro is an ideal location to invite Food Trucks to join back in on the Morp fun, so we've asked them to come out!  We will reveal who is attending a little closer to the event, but we promise you'll be munching on some amazing gourmet eats all night long.

5. An ACTUAL DJ!

Post-show entertainment will include wicked tracks from our very first Morp DJ:  DJ Dirty Pierre!  He is one groovy, talented music maker.  And he's ready to help you rock out into the wee hours of the Morp night.

Check out his music HERE!

So don't delay friends.  Mark October 26th down on your calendar, and pick up some tickets right HERE today!  As always, your attendance helps make our new season of shows possible, so party with us in the name of new Theatre!
